Its a hard call, but I think for me it has to be the first gen Mustang

I have to agree with the E-Type.

I couldn’t think of any that particularly doesn’t do anything for me. But I guess pretty much all classic roadsters save for the obvious few.
Also E-type roadsters. The coupes do it for me, but never roadsters.

Isn’t that a second gen Mustang on account of its slanty back?
I’m over Mustangs. I live in Australia - they weren’t even sold here, but every muscle car you see is a Mustang. It’s just such a plain choice when there were so many great muscle cars.

C2 Sting Ray. Now I don’t hate the C2, but I just can’t stand that split window. Granted, I’ve never sat in one, so the blind spot may not be as bad as I think. Still, everyone seems to ooh and aah over it, but I maintain that it was a bad idea back then, and it was a bad idea on the 2009 concept. I am grateful that that little detail didn’t return to production.

Any and all roadsters, the E-type, any XJ series made before the 80s, Pre-71 classic mustangs, the 1970 Camaro, the Shelby Cobra, the Ferrari 246, the Chevy Tri Fives, the 59 Cadillac and the 57 Eldorado Brougham, the DB5, the Volvo P1800, the 911, the 1969 Pontiac Grand Prix, wagons, I could list a lot of things but that's all I can think of at the moment.

pretty much all pre-war stuff - just doesn’t do it for me. (But that red 68' 390 GT fastback is nice...)

Any of the door wedge “supercars”. They just don’t do it for me.

The split window only existed for one year of the stingrays life, are you okay with the others?

GT40. So you’re telling me that the worlds second largest car maker with pretty much unlimited budget managed to beat a tiny independent boutique manufacturer in racing by use of some british blokes, a chicken farmer from texas and 3/4 more engine. Exactly why is this such a great achievement?

Funny thing was that it was a massive issue between the designers. One guy wanted it a ton, the other one hated it, the one year thing was kinda a compromise for the two of them.

Depends on if you separate them by platform or by style. There’s only six by platform, but style...number varies from eight to ten.

Which one is too hard, there are a lot of “classic” cars which just aren’t classic in any real sense of the word. But if we’re going by which popular “classic” I’d have to agree about the mustang. It’s an absurdly overrated vintage car. I am predicting that values on those cars are going to fall drastically in the next 20 years as those who covet them get too old to drive/die off. There just isn’t very much that’s actually attractive about owning or driving one. That’s not to say they’re bad cars - just that in the future a 1st gen mustang will “just” be an old car.
Muscle cars in general I think are going to end up not being nearly as collectible in the future as they are now.

Hotrods. Almost all of them. I go to any car show near me and it’s rows and rows of this kind of stuff:
Personally, I don’t want to even see so much as a lower ride and some big retro chrome wheels. I want no visible modifications. Zilch. None. No matter how subtle or tasteful most people find it, I want stock or restored. Plus they bore me the way luxury cars and supercars bore many people on here. I totally respect these vehicles and the people who drive them, and there are some I like, but most of them will never have my heart.
It would seem a lot of people on here don’t like the E-type. I can take or leave an S2 and would prefer to leave an S3, but an S1 E-Type of any flavor will always make me weak in the knees.

Mustangs (excluding the 67-69's and the new ones), Chevelles, 67-68 Camaro’s, Tri 5 Chevys (unless it’s the 2 door sedan or a wagon), ‘59 Cadillacs, Lancia Stratos, all Ferraris (with the exception of the 308), Lamborghini’s, Maserati’s, Aston DB series, Aston Vanquish, Mercedes W123, Pontiac G8, water cooled 911's, BMW E30, Audi Quattro, Lancia Delta Integrale, Lancia 037, stepnose Alfa Romeo’s, C1 Corvette’s, Datsun 240z and 510, Toyota 2000GT, BMW M cars, Mazda RX7, Toyota MR2, Toyota AE86 Corolla, Jeep Wrangler, 3rd and 4th gen GM F bodies, FoST, new Camaro, Chevy SS, and the sin of all sins . . . . the Miata! (gasp!)
It’s not that I think these are bad cars; It’s just that, in my opinion, they are boring, unusable, or there is a better alternative.

It’s a good thing they worked to change it instead of waiting for the next gen. Creating one large window to take the place of those two must not have been cheap.

Oddly, when it comes to the 2009 Stingray concept, even though the split between the windows appears to be even wider, it doesn’t bother me as much as the ‘63. Maybe that’s because the car was always intended to be a concept. You can’t take a concept car’s mirrors seriously; why treat this detail any different?
There was a lot of talk at the time over whether or not this would be the C7. However, someone at GM made a point of clarifying that once we saw the real C7, the 2009 Stingray would (in retrospect) be instantly recognizable as C6-based. And they were right. It was just a fun design exercise.

I don’t even know where to start. You have enormous balls! Actually, reading that again, I only strongly disagree with the following:
65 chevelle, 68 Camaro (forget that 69 frippery), and Aston DB9, and e60/90 M cars. These are my favorites of these models.
But again, big balls my friend.

I love muscle cars but agree that they are probably at or near their peak. Not that I’m complaining, that just means cheaper muscle for me.

I’m starting to understand you. I’m in a different camp, I like unique resto mod style that’s not over the top. But I think we can agree we’re against people who hack up cars too much. I happen to love that green Camaro except for the enormous cowl induction hood which ruins the lines for me.

Every Mustang except the brand new one. I have never been a fan. Also this might be a popular opinion but Rat Rods. Just fix your dang cars the real ways instead of making them look like a bump will make them fall apart. Also stop destroying 32 Fords. They’re so pretty stock, why would you ruin one.

There are plenty of other vehicles that I think are also reaching their peak. The VW microbus for example, I don’t believe can possibly keep climbing in value the way it has recently. Eventually every rich guy who wants one will have one, and then the value on the rest is going to fall.

All Lamborghinis, all Porsches (because they’re all overpriced now), all Mustangs, post-68 Camaros (hell, all post-68 American muscle cars), and all vettes.

Came here to post this, most 80s super cars or sports cars look like crap. I swear, they would have made the wheels not round if they could have gotten away with it.

Honestly, the only classics that do it for me are the Stratos, Stingray split-window, Mini, and 308 GTB QV. Everything else is cool I guess, but way outside my generation, so it's hard for me to feel any connection to them.

Weird underpowered microcars, poorly built British cars, and ass backward French cars.
As far as cars go, I am the exception, not the rule.
